Section II·About

About Go
Look Up.

Three astronomers who'd rather more people were looking up.

§ 01·Origin

Our story.

Go Look Up started because we kept noticing the same thing. The night sky we look at for work is mostly invisible to the people around us. It's not hidden. Nobody ever pointed it out. We're three PhD students at Queen's University studying astronomy, and we wanted to spend some of our time sharing what we see.

It started with a few impromptu setups on campus and grew from there. There's a look people get the first time they see Saturn's rings. A quiet “oh.” It's the same look we had as undergrads, and it reminded us why we ended up in this field. We wanted other people to have it too.

These days Go Look Up is a mix of pop-up telescope nights around Kingston and active content on social media platforms. Whether you find us on a sidewalk or scroll past something we wrote, the ask is the same: look up. You can find our current dispatches on Instagram at @go_lookup, with room for more channels as we grow.
